Terms of Service

Welcome to Severo Academy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Severo Academy platform at severo-academy.com, including all related services, features, and content (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. "You" refers to any individual who accesses or uses the Service.

You must be at least 16 years of age to use Severo Academy. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

To access the Service, you must create an account using either an email address and password or Google sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

Accounts are categorized by role: Student, Teacher, or Admin. Your role determines which features and areas of the platform are available to you. Account roles are assigned and managed by Severo Academy administrators.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

Severo Academy provides:

• Online English language classes conducted live via Google Meet
• A credit-based booking system for scheduling classes
• Structured courses with lessons, progress tracking, and teacher feedback
• Course materials and certificates available for download
• Push notifications for bookings, cancellations, and course updates
• Royal Quest — a gamified practice feature with challenges synced to your course lessons
• Tiered subscription plans (Classic, Oyster, Royal) with varying features and capabilities

Teachers are required to connect their Google Calendar to synchronize their availability on the platform. By doing so, teachers authorize Severo Academy to read and manage calendar events within the agreed scope.

Severo Academy offers tiered subscription plans — Classic, Oyster, and Royal — each providing different levels of access and features. Plan features may include, but are not limited to: monthly refundable cancellation limits, conversational booking limits, teacher feedback on lessons, Royal Quest access, and daily heart refills for Royal Quest.

Your subscription plan is assigned and managed by Severo Academy administrators. The specific capabilities of each plan are described on the platform and may be updated from time to time. Severo Academy reserves the right to modify plan features, introduce new plans, or discontinue existing plans with reasonable notice.

Certain features, such as Royal Quest, may be available as a time-limited trial for specific plans. Once a trial expires, access to those features requires upgrading to a plan that includes full access.

Classes on Severo Academy are booked using credits. Standard classes cost 1 credit, and double sessions (special scheduling or extended time) cost 2 credits.

Credits are assigned to your account by Severo Academy administrators. Credits are non-transferable between users and have no monetary value outside the platform.

Severo Academy reserves the right to adjust credit balances to correct system errors or discrepancies.

Royal Quest is an optional gamified learning feature that provides practice exercises synced to your course lessons. Challenges include multiple-choice questions, sentence ordering, typed answers, and word-building activities. Sessions consist of a fixed number of challenges within a time limit.

Royal Quest uses a hearts-and-points economy. Hearts are consumed to start a practice session, and points are earned for correct answers. Hearts can be refilled using accumulated points or credits. Points and hearts have no monetary value and exist solely within the Royal Quest feature.

Credits earned through Royal Quest quests and streak milestones are added to your platform credit balance and are subject to the same terms as regular credits (non-transferable, no monetary value outside the platform).

Access to Royal Quest depends on your subscription plan. Classic plan holders receive a time-limited trial. Oyster and Royal plan holders receive full, ongoing access. The number of daily heart refills varies by plan. Severo Academy reserves the right to modify Royal Quest mechanics, rewards, and availability at any time.

Student Cancellations

• You may cancel a booked class up to 2 hours before the scheduled start time for a full credit refund.
• Each subscription plan includes a monthly limit of free (refundable) cancellations — for example, 1 for Classic, 2 for Oyster, and 3 for Royal. After reaching your plan's limit, cancelled classes will not be refunded.
• Cancellations made less than 2 hours before class start time are not eligible for a credit refund.

Conversational class bookings are also subject to monthly limits that vary by subscription plan. Classic and Oyster plans have a fixed monthly cap, while the Royal plan offers unlimited conversational bookings.

Teacher Cancellations

• When a teacher cancels a class, all student bookings for that class are automatically cancelled and credits are fully refunded.
• Teachers may cancel classes before the scheduled start time.

No-Show Policy

If a student does not attend a booked class, the teacher may mark the booking as a no-show. No-show bookings are not eligible for a credit refund.

Severo Academy may offer a referral program where existing students can invite new students. When a referred student signs up for a full course, both the referring student and the new student receive 2 bonus credits. Severo Academy reserves the right to modify or discontinue the referral program at any time.

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its underlying infrastructure
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or other users' accounts
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service without our written permission
• Share your account credentials with others or allow others to use your account
• Engage in disruptive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior during classes
• Record classes or sessions without the explicit consent of all participants

Violation of these rules may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account, at our sole discretion.

All content on the Severo Academy platform — including course materials, books, certificates, lesson content, the website design, logos, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Severo Academy and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works from any platform content without our prior written consent. Course materials provided for your enrolled courses are for your personal, non-commercial use only.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy. Privacy Policy

We strive to keep Severo Academy available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by service downtime.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Severo Academy and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or learning opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total value of credits in your account at the time of the claim.

You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, please contact us at anasevero.edu@gmail.com.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of England and Wales.
